The messaging really makes it wound like a higher-up went to a conference, ran into the Good Idea Fairy, and implemented something based on larger social trends that aren't as applicable to your much-older-than-average userbase. However, rather pointedly, nowhere is anyone noting that the World of Warships forum was in terminal decline. ![]() We've seen this "forums as a platform are in decline" message, and nobody disagrees with that. We've read a lot of feedback here on the decision and we'll be looking to implement ways to make the Discord and other spaces more comfortable to use for people who are used to forum-style discussion. The game will lose it's soul when the official forums are shut down.īut, we really believe this is the right decision as brought up in the other topics forums as a platform continue to see declining use as time goes on. It is a pathetic platform that has no ability to have long term, intelligent conversations. Nothing is saved, there is no memory, no history. Discord is nothing but chat for people with low attention spans. It removes memories of the players of the past who have either moved on to other games, or who have died. The loss of the forums removes history from the game, there is no more community memory of the game. You have no power there and that makes me smile. ![]() It is nice to have a place that allows free discussions without a company person riding roughshot over people with opinions that Wargaming does not like. When a WeeGee posts something silly there, they get downvoted into oblivion. Of course it isn't official, it is run by players so Wargaming has zero control of content. We do read Reddit! Since it's not an "official" platform (as in, we do not control/moderate it), we don't tend to post very much in there, but I assure you that Reddit activity makes up a substantial portion of the feedback reporting that we do.
